The Thealoz® Duo Gel is a hypotonic artificial tear formulation that combines the cytoprotective and regenerative properties of trehalose in 3%, lubrication, moisturizing and healing of Hyaluronic acid 0.15%, and the prolonged action of carbomer 0.25%.

Hyaluronic is a biopolymer with the ability to hold large amounts of water and also to affix the ocular surface giving more hydration and lubrication. Furthermore trehalose enhances the sustained action of hyaluronate thus reducing the dropper to 50%.

In dry eye extreme conditions the ocular surface as hyperosmolar and dry environment that have resulted in the cells to dehydrate and be shed in effect creating inflammation in the area. Trehalose enters the epithelial cells and protects the cell membrane from the loss of water, and the proteins from denaturation and thereby avoid osmotic stress and dehydration of the cells.

Both hyaluronic and the Trehalose help migration, adhesion, proliferation and protect the ocular surface cells. The regenerative and healing action of Thealoz® Duo Gel makes it ideal preparation after ophthalmic surgeries and injuries.

Carbomer (CARBOPOL 974P) has the ability to adhere to the mucous layer of tears (mucoadhesive polymer), increasing in this way, the residence time of Thealoz® Duo Gel on the ocular surface, creating a filmenydatosis.

The Thealoz® Duo Gel solution is flowing, offers long stay on the ocular surface and prolonged hydration, without sticking and blurs vision.

The Thealoz® Duo Gel is recommended for supper or for use in patients with severe dry eye.
