The vitamin D3 in the nutritional supplement Immuvit Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is 100% of plant origin and is contained in the ingredient Vitashine. Vitashine is a special oily lichen extract. It is naturally rich in vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and fatty acids.
Lichens are a small, unique type of plant that consists of a symbiotic association of a fungus with an alga. It is naturally found on mountain slopes, rocks and trees in abundance. It is a natural source of vitamin D3 without negative effects on the environment.
Vitashine contains vitamin D3 which, with the microencapsulation technique, becomes highly bioavailable.
Vitamin D3 is fat-soluble and therefore difficult to absorb.
Microencapsulation technology ensures better stability, water solubility and greater bioavailability of vitamin D3.
The “microcapsule” is resistant to degradation in an acidic environment and thus achieves targeted delivery at the point of absorption – the small intestine, where the microcapsule is broken down only by pancreatic enzymes.
Optimal absorption is also ensured, since thanks to the microencapsulation the absorption does not depend on the composition of the meal. Vitamin D3 is obtained from a plant source (lichen), and is therefore also suitable for vegans.
Cholecalciferol was first described in 1936.
Vitamin D3 is a type of vitamin D produced by the skin when it is exposed to the sun (also considered a prohormone).
It is also found in certain foods (fish, beef liver, eggs and cheese) and can also be taken as a dietary supplement.
It is included in the list of essential medicines of the World Health Organization and contributes to:
Normal function of the immune system
Maintaining the normal condition of bones and teeth
Normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus
Normal muscle function
Maintaining normal blood calcium levels
Process of cell division
Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 1 capsule per day, to be taken with water.
