Urinary tract infection in adults and infants

Urinary tract infection is the second most common after upper respiratory tract infections. It occurs in both infants and adults of both sexes. These infections are caused by germs such as E. coli, the Proteas, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella and the staphylococcus.

The main symptoms of UTI are differentiated by gender and age. Common symptoms include pain in the lower abdomen, painful urination, urinary retention, the presence of blood at the end of urination and fever rarely coexist when the infection has reached the upper urinary tract (acute prostatitis, kidney etc).

The urinary tract infection is categorized in the upper urinary infection and lower urinary tract. At the upper urinary tract are acute or chronic pyelonephritis, necrotizing thilitida or intrarenal abscess. While in the lower urinary tract are cystitis, urethral syndrome in women with acute urethritis in men. Also there is for men the acute or chronic prostatitis.

The diagnosis of a UTI take place in microbiological laboratories. We clean the sensitive area with neutral pH products and we take the sample in urine collection bag. If there is germ, then you have to crop urine which lasts 24 to 48 hours. It is necessary for the proper administration of antibiotic drug which aim to solve the problem and will vary from organization to organization. This test should be done before taking any antibiotics, otherwise the result is fake.

For our little friends up to the age of one year mainly affects the boys but after the rate reversed and girls are easier victims of this infection. This is due to penoscrotal fusion which occurs in boys, but this subsides mostly after the first year of age. Children get frequent urinary tract infections due to anatomical abnormalities of the urinary tract such kysteouritiriki reflux, ureteral stricture, posterior valves featuring infant susceptible characterized by one of them. What should be understood is that the urinary tract infection is caused by our own microbes derived from other mucosa as e.g. rectal and reach the urethra.
Last but not least, in any target group you belong to, you should bear in mind the ways of protection against a possible urinary tract infection. Therefore we need to consume plenty of fluids, frequent urination and cleaning with suitable products we can find in pharmacy and food supplements involved with the active ingredients in the prevention of these infections.
