This vitamin was first isolated from egg yolk in 1935, situated in a wide variety of combined forms of animal and plant tissues. Animals are stored in the liver. 

Biotin is produced by bacteria of the intestinal flora. Chronic antibiotics and other drugs have been shown to affect the bacterial production of this vitamin. 

As coenzyme biotin metabolize hydrocarbons and proteins to release energy and takes part in the production of prostaglandins by lipids. The biotin primarily used by the body to assist in the normal development and improvement of the skin, hair and bone marrow.
